In Loving Memory of
Pietro "Pete" Magaletto
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Pietro "Pete" Magaletto, who passed away peacefully on October 23, 2026, at the age of 66, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Pete was born on March 21, 1960, in Yonkers, New York, to the late Elio Magaletto and Carmela (DeFeo) Magaletto. On September 30, 1989, he married the love of his life, Cheryl A. (Finney) Magaletto, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories.
A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished member of his family and community, Pete will be remembered for his kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, generosity, strong work ethic, and unwavering strength. Above all else, his family was his greatest joy, and nothing meant more to him than spending time with his children and the people he loved.
Pete was the proud owner and operator of P & D Plumbing, LLC, and Transmission King, Inc. He took pride in his work and in the life he built for his family.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Pete had a special passion for hockey. He enjoyed playing roller hockey in the East Fishkill Roller Hockey League and dedicated his time to coaching, sharing his love of sports with others through the East Fishkill Roller Hockey League, and local ice hockey. Pete always brought enthusiasm, humor, and a love of the game to those around him.
Outside of sports, Pete loved cars, especially Corvettes, taking long walks, and spending time outdoors. He treasured hanging out with his friends, but his greatest happiness came from being with his children. His beloved dog, Max, was his best buddy and a special companion who brought him much joy.
Although Alzheimer's disease gradually took so much from Pete, it could never diminish the love he gave or the lasting impact he had on those who knew him. His kindness, humor, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship, and the enduring power of love.
In addition to his beloved wife, Cheryl, Pete leaves behind his children, Peter Joseph Magaletto and his wife, Emily, and Danielle Nicole Magaletto; his mother-in-law, Joanne Finney; his sisters, Phyllis (Steven) Makai, Lynn (Matt) Benincasa, and Susan (Tony) Esposito; his brother, Rocco (Barbara) Magaletto; his sisters-in-law, Robin (Wallace) Nickerson, and Amy Finney; and his brothers-in-law, Shawn (Elizabeth) Finney, and Shamus Finney. He is also survived by many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, Elio Magaletto and Carmela (DeFeo) Magaletto; his father-in-law, Robert "Doc" Finney; his brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Finney; and his beloved dog, Max.
Our family finds comfort in knowing that Pete is now at peace, free from the struggles of this heartbreaking disease. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his love, laughter, and memory will continue to guide us as we live, love, and care for one another.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, New York. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
