Peter Goumas, age 62, passed away on May 8, 2024. He was born on October 6, 1961 in Island Park, NY to Perry and Georgia (Starogiannis) Goumas. On July 23, 1995, he married his beloved wife Barbara (Cloutsis) Goumas in Island Park. Barbara sadly predeceased him in 2010.

Peter was a Social Studies teacher at Brewster High School for many years, until his retirement in 2019. He loved history and was a wonderful storyteller, and great debater. He was passionate about collecting trains and going to train shows and studying astronomy and astrophotography. Peter enjoyed music and his all-time favorite group was The Beatles. He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee with a cookie.

Peter was a very caring and loving person with a big personality. He loved to have a good time and his house was always full of people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son Michael Goumas and his significant other Kaysie; his mother Georgia Goumas; his sister Aspasia "Kelly" Vasilakos and her husband Gus; his nieces: Georgia and her husband Corey and their children Violet and Teddy, and Kassandra and her significant other Nick Roberts; as well as his mother-in-law Angie Christy.

In addition to his beloved wife Barbara, Peter was predeceased by his father Perry Goumas in 2017.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 12:30 pm at St. Gregory Orthodox Church, 1500 Route 376, Wappingers Falls, followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Rd., Hopewell Junction.
