Peter V. Ragusa, 71, a Hopewell Junction resident since 2000 and previously of the Bronx, died on December 26, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

Born on January 2, 1949 in the Bronx, Peter was the son of Joseph and Rose (Venditto) Ragusa. On November 28, 1971 in Mount Vernon, Peter married the love of his life, AnnMarie Pinto, who survives at home.

Peter proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1967-1971. He worked as a driver for the New York Department of Sanitation for 20 years until his retirement in 2009. Peter was a 9/11 First Responder and a Hometown Hero.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his daughters, Gabriella Ragusa Reitberger and her husband Paul, and Angelica Ragusa and her partner Brian Beam; his granddaughter, Katharina Ragusa Reitberger; his siblings, Joseph Ragusa, Roseanne Ragusa, Jeanette Fiorito and George Ragusa; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Peter's life will be held in the future.
