Obituary

Peter Robertin, Sr., a resident of Wappingers Falls for over 30 years died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 3, 2025. He was 94 years old.

Peter was born in the Bronx, NY on June 4, 1930, to Pedro Robertin and Ursula Rodriguez. In 1951, he joined the US Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He received multiple commendations and citations including the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked for the New York City Board of Education for over 40 years as a Stationary Fireman.

Prior to moving to Wappingers Falls, he lived in Somers, NY for over 30 years where he raised his family and was very involved in the community. He was a Volunteer Fireman and served as President of the Somers Fire Department. He was an EMT and in his later years volunteered as Fire Police. He was a member of the American Legion #1505 in Somers. He also volunteered as a Little League Coach.

Peter was deeply religious and was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, in Fishkill, New York. He was a Big New York Yankees and Rangers Fan (although he loved Sidney Crosby on the Penguins). He loved following Clemson Football. He was immensely proud of his home and always tended to his yard and garden. Peter was an avid reader and enjoyed working on a good jigsaw puzzle. But nothing was more important than spending time with his family with big barbecues in the backyard, swimming in the pool, family get togethers and traveling with his family to Lake George, Cape Cod and Hershey Park.

On September 5, 1954, he married Marcellina Perrella who predeceased him on February 2, 1989. He was fortunate to meet the second love of his life, Alice Quinones and they were married on May 16, 1990. Alice predeceased him on October 14, 2011.

Peter is survived by his children, David (Nancy) Robertin of Beacon, NY, Joann (Roy) Marschke of Hudson, OH and Peter (Diana) Robertin of Beacon, NY; his grandchildren, Jaime (Robert) Adamec, David DeChent-Robertin, Michael DeChent-Robertin, Hope (Mark) Barry, Roy (Kaitlyn) Marschke, Henry Lopez and Dana (Timothy) Curran; over 10 great-grandchildren; Nick and Marissa Ward, and their son Caden who were like additional grandchildren to him; and Jackie Brown, a special loving family member.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kaite DeChent-Robertin and his siblings Frank Ocasio, Irma Villafana, Elsie Rivera, Vivian Seipp and William Robertin.
