HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Peter R. Rossi, 78, a resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Westchester County, died on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on April 30, 1933 in the Bronx, where he was also raised, he was the son of the late John T. and Anna (DeMartino) Rossi. Peter proudly served our country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. He began his career at Somerset Importers Ltd. as a Tax Manager. In 1980, he began his own accounting firm, P & L Tax Services in Hopewell Junction, from which he retired in 2008.

He enjoyed casino gaming, especially poker, shooting pool, photography, and Caribbean travel. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Peter is survived by his children, Lisa Gallucci and her husband Christopher of New Fairfield, CT, John Rossi and his wife Allison of Poughquag, and Peter Rossi, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Somers; and his grandchildren, Alyssa, Christopher, and Andrew Gallucci, John and Alexandra Rossi, and Sarah and Peter Rossi. He was predeceased by his brother, Matthew Rossi.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. On Tuesday, family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9:45 am and will leave in procession for Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, where a service will be held at 11am at the chapel of the Community Mausoleum followed by military honors.
