POUGHQUAG – Peter J. Sampogna, Jr., 67, an area resident since 1991, passed away on November 13, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a longtime illness. He previously lived in Yonkers.

Born in Yonkers, NY on August 10, 1956, Peter was the son of the late Peter and Evelyn (Mucha) Sampogna, Sr. He had been employed as a truck driver for Teamsters #456 in Elmsford until his retirement. Peter was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed meeting his friends for a drink at Michael's Sports Bar in Fishkill.

Peter is survived by his wife, Carolann (Santariga) Sampogna who had been by his side for 50 years. He is also survived by his son, Peter "PJ" Sampogna; his daughter, Toniann Sampogna and her husband Peter Fluker; his grandchildren, Jonathan Fluker and Jayden Fluker; his sisters, Joann Egloff-Kotash and Olympia Sampogna; and many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in memory of Peter to the American Diabetes Association.
