Fishkill- Peter Reynolds Schartner of Fishkill, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on April 25, 2021. Born in Bronx, NY on October 30, 1954 he was the son of Albert V. and Beverly A. (Walsh) Schartner of Fall River, MA. He is survived by his parents, his brother Matthew Schartner, Fishkill, NY, sister Graceann Schartner (William Contreras) East Greenwich, RI, stepchildren Alexis Kovacs, Nicole Byfuglin, and Anthony Dugan, 5 nieces and nephews, 1 grand niece, and 9 step grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Ossining High School in 1972 where he first began his love of Lacrosse. He enjoyed working with his hands going on to become a highly skilled carpenter by trade and subsequent small construction business owner for 15 years. A master craftsman by day, an innovative renovator by night, he worked tirelessly transforming many houses into beautiful homes for his family.

Peter was always so good natured, easy going, and friendly towards all, consistently putting others before himself. Everyone would say "What a great guy." Always with a smile, a wave or high five. He loved listening to music, none more so than Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. He was a steadfast NY Giants fan who also enjoyed watching College lacrosse and his absolute favorite, the Tennis Channel. A proud American, he faithfully flew his flag everyday.

Most especially, Peter was devoted to his son Robby who shared his love of lacrosse and tennis but who tragically left Peter way too soon. Friends and family will forever believe that Peter died of a broken heart. Peter will forever be remembered as a kind, giving, and generous man who was always willing to help those in need, both friends and strangers.

He is predeceased by his son Robert P. M. Schartner and his brother John V. Schartner. At this time all services will be private with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY.
