Obituary

VERBANK – Philip L. DeNunzio, 67, an area resident since 1973, passed away on August 4, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in the Bronx on August 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Vincent James and Lucille (Carabella) DeNunzio. On July 5, 1968 in Poughkeepsie, Philip married Frances Kaplan DeNunzio who survives at home.

Phil had been employed by Carpenters Local #203 in Poughkeepsie until his retirement in 2010. He previously drove for Starlite Oil Company in the Bronx and Neptune Moving Company in Ardsley.

An avid deer hunter, he was successful with both shotgun and bow and arrow. He was a fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants, and enjoyed watching the games with his friends at the Iron Furnace. He loved spending time with family and friends at barbeques and serving them at his backyard Tiki Bar.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was always quick to brag about them, and looked forward to their frequent visits.

In addition to his loving wife, Fran, of 47 years, Phil is survived by his children and their spouses, Donna and Michael McFarlin of Hyde Park and Vincent and Kathleen DeNunzio of Lagrangeville; his grandchildren, Joseph Flynn, Laken Flynn, Madison McFarlin, Aubrie McFarlin, Victoria DeNunzio, and Kiersten DeNunzio; his sisters, Lorraine and Christine DeNunzio of Verbank; his brother-in-law, Alan Kaplan and his partner Mary Tyson of El Cerrito, CA; his sisters-in-law, Dottie and Kathy DeNunzio of Verbank; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Philip was also predeceased by his brothers, Vincent DeNunzio and Paul DeNunzio and his brother-in-law, Thomas McGovern.
