Obituary

Philip J. Marcy of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2020. He was 69 years old.

Phil was born in East Chester, NY on February 22, 1951 to Philip J. Marcy and Elizabeth R. Longo. He graduated from East Chester High School in 1969 and attended NY Phoenix School of Design. He went on to work for Ethan Allen in Danbury, CT for several years, designing furniture until he decided to start his own business in 1984. P.M. Painting Company has serviced the tri-state area as painting and general contractors since then.

Phil had a passion for music and was a talented drummer/percussionist. At a young age, he started playing drums and over the years played in several bands in the NY and CT areas. For over 40 years, he was very active in his church, Full Gospel Center in Lagrangeville, faithfully playing in the worship band each Sunday. He was affectionately called “Uncle Phil” by his church family and all who became close to him. He gave drum lessons to many students over the years and today, many are playing in their respective churches. He was so proud of them all using their talents for the Lord.

Phil is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cindy. He was the most caring and loving person, and when he entered a room, you knew he was there. He had such a presence – his smile and laughter will be missed by all.

In addition, he is survived by his sister-in-law Nancy Cirillo-Ferrante, nephews John Cirillo and wife Melinda, Brianna and John and Eddie Cirillo and wife Jill, Dana and Lauren; sister-in-law Kim Zito, nephews Mathew Zito and wife Laura, Maya and Evan and Jeffrey Zito and wife Ksusha, and Zoya; niece Elisabeth Myers-Ryan and husband Mike, Rylie and Ramsey; niece Faith Myers; nephew Nicholas Stanishia; niece Kristin Mpasiakos and husband John, Giana and Luca; niece Jenie Myers, Jack and Jaycie; cousin Nicholas Marcy and wife Karen.

Phil is also survived by his in-laws, Robert and Beverly Waltke; brother-in-law Tim Waltke and wife Aileen; nephew Chandler and wife Monica; sister-in-law Pamm Waltke-McPhillipa and husband Bill; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Phil was predeceased by his brother Fred Cirillo and wife Dora; brother Edward Cirillo; sister Maria Zito-Myers and son Jordan Myers; and brother Frank Zito.

Because of Covid, a private service was held with family, and in 2021 a memorial service will be held at the Full Gospel Center with family and friends to celebrate and remember his life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations, in Phil’s Name, to Full Gospel Center in Lagrangeviille.
