Hopewell Junction - It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Phyllis J. Carbone, age 79, on October 26, 2021.

Phyllis was born on January 29, 1942, in Istanbul, Turkey to Fethi and Siret Eryasha. The family emigrated the United States in 1954 and settled in Alexandria, Virginia. Phyllis graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and later from Strayer University.

Phyllis was employed by The George A. Fuller Co. where she met the love of her life – Ed Carbone. She was also employed by the World Bank in Washington, DC.
On March 23, 1968, Phyllis and Ed were married in the Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is also survived by her three children Christine Pompa and her husband Marian, Frank, and Michael and his wife Valerie, and two grandsons Anthony and Brian Pompa.

Phyllis spent her children's growing-up years enjoying her loving children, spending all her time in the midst of the kids and all their friends. After the children grew – Phyllis returned the work force and was employed by a local attorney as a legal secretary.

Phyllis was active at St. Columba Church as a CCD instructor and Eucharistic Minister for many years, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Columbiettes.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 12-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
