Salt Point-Rafael A. Acosta Martinez, a Hudson Valley resident from NYC, NY passed away at home on January 16, 2024. He was 78 years old.

Rafael was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on August 31, 1945, the son of the late Rafael and Gloria Acosta-Martinez.

Rafael was a devoted, dedicated employee of the New York City Housing Authority where his last position was a Housing Supervisor until his retirement of 25 years.

On June 5, 1965, he married the love of his life Carmen Alicea who survives at home with her children.

Rafael loved being with his family and taking care of them. He enjoyed working in his garden with his wife and tending to his yard and many animals. He also volunteered many hours of his life to local food pantries throughout the Hudson Valley.

In addition to his wife Carmen, Rafael is survived by 10 children: John Martinez, David Martinez, Carmen Martinez, Lucas Martinez, Jesse Martinez, Timothy Martinez, Natalia Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Matthew Martinez, and Rebekah Martinez. He is also survived by his eldest granddaughter Christiana Martinez along with many other grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters: Elsie and Awilda Acosta and many other family members and friends.
