It is with great sadness that we announce Ralph Johnson Haglund, age 85, passed away April 11, 2024, in Rhinebeck, New York. Born on May 22, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts, Ralph was the son of Ralph Olaf Haglund and Ruth (Johnson) Haglund. He was the devoted husband of Tina (Cuniberti) Haglund, with whom he shared 43 years of a loving marriage. Together, they raised their son, Evan Haglund, who was 31 years old at the time of Ralph's passing.

Ralph had a passion for academics and embraced challenges from a young age. He attended the prestigious Boston Latin School, earned his degree in Economics from Brown University, and later received his Master's from the Wharton School of Business. Ralph's dedication to his country led him to serve as a Lieutenant (j.g.) in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in the Philippines. He often spoke fondly of his time in the military.

After his naval service, Ralph embarked on a successful career as a stockbroker in New York City for various companies, including Moseley, Hallgarten & Estabrook in Manhattan. Throughout his life, Ralph's deep appreciation for nature and animals was evident. He was known for his kind, compassionate, and protective nature towards all living creatures. An avid runner, he completed three marathons, two of which he ran alongside his beloved wife. Even in his later years, Ralph could be seen jogging to retrieve his daily newspaper.

Ralph's wit, intelligence, and sense of humor were cherished by all who knew him and his memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration to his family and friends. His stories and legacy will continue to be shared and celebrated for generations to come.

A graveside service with Navy Honors will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery at 1pm on Friday April 19th, 2024.
