Ray Nelson Miller Jr., a resident of Hopewell Junction, NY for more than 30 years and formerly of Ossining, NY, passed away on October 22, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 90 years old.
Born on March 21, 1936, in Hartford, CT, Ray was the son of the late Ray Nelson Miller Sr. and Ruth (Romig) Miller.
Ray was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures of life, especially those that allowed him to work with his hands, enjoy the outdoors, or indulge his passion for all things mechanical. He had a special appreciation for hot rod cars, dirt bike racing, and NASCAR, where the thrill of speed and the excitement of the race held a special appeal. His interests also included building model airplanes, camping, and woodworking. Whether he was creating something with his hands, enjoying time outside, or following a favorite race, Ray found enjoyment in the hobbies that had always been close to his heart.
Professionally, Ray worked as a Chemical Technician for Union Carbide in Eastview, NY, where he applied his technical skills and knowledge throughout his career. He also proudly served in the United States Army Reserves.
Above all, Ray leaves behind a family whose lives were made richer by his presence. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Carole (Walker) Miller, who survives him. Together, they built a life filled with shared experiences and memories that will continue to be treasured for years to come.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his son, Philip Miller, and his daughter, Karen Hudson, and her husband, Daniel. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Aime Miller, Elizabeth McShane, Kyle Miller, Jessica Ercoli, and Brendon Ercoli, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olivia Miller, Nora McShane, Emma Ercoli, and Faye Ercoli. His family spans generations, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and memories to be carried forward.
Ray was predeceased by his two brothers, Ed Miller and Richard Miller.
A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
