BEEKMAN - Raymond Eaton, 93, an area resident since 1962 and formerly of Plainville, CT, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Danville, PA on November 6, 1921, Ray was the son of Ernest and Phyllis McNeill Eaton. He proudly served our country in the US Merchant Marines and was employed by New York State as a Registered Nurse at Harlem Valley State Hospital and at Green Haven Correctional Facility. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction where he volunteered with the Hearts and Hands Committee. He was an avid volunteer for many years at the Beekman Library and he also enjoyed taking trips with the Beekman Seniors.
Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife, Alyce "Lee" Kavanagh Eaton, on June 8, 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Gerwe, Lynn Fogg and Cheryl Braun; his grandchildren, Kristofer Fogg, Katherine Fontaine and Courtney Preston; his great-grandchildren, Hayden Michael Preston, James Marshall Fogg, Emma Violet Fontaine and Sophia Alyce Preston; his sisters, Roseanne Magnarella and Florence Mollela; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the community for their love and support of Ray that helped him to remain a vibrant member of the area that he loved so much.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
