HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Raymond Michael Lugo, 78, an area resident since 1997, died on January 9, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in the Bronx.
Born in Manhattan on January 12, 1944, Raymond was the son of the late Benito and Petra (Vega) Lugo. He proudly served in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Okinawa. Raymond was employed for over 40 years until his retirement by the MTA in the Bronx.
On August 20, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx, he married Nilda (Berovides) Lugo who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Katherine Lugo of LaGrange and Ray Anthony Lugo and his wife Nadine of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, and Alaina; his siblings; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Raymond was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Rayna Lugo.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
