Ricardo Andres Martínez, 81, a resident of Dutchess County since 1966, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Havana, Cuba on December 20, 1930, he was the son of Ricardo Martínez Segares and Maria del Carmen Vascós. Ricardo had his Masters Degrees in Chemistry and Physics and was employed as a Chemical Engineer at IBM, East Fishkill. He was also a professional photographer, owning and operating Ricardo Studio.
Ricardo was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction where he was a member of the St. Joseph Men's Group. He also attended many retreats at Mount Alvernia. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers and the Dutchess Regional Professional Photographers.
On January 9, 1960 in Cuba, Ricardo married Alma Nora Quintana who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Jose Ignacio Vascós and his wife, Teresa Santamaria of Brooklyn, Maria Elena Martinez-Jacobson and her husband, Ronald of Poughquag, Richard Javier Martinez of Hoboken, NJ and Alina Isabel Harrington and her husband, Leslie of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Andrew, Kassie, Matthew, Luke and Isabel; his sister-in-law, Norma Santa Cruz; and his nephew, Oswaldo Santa Cruz and his wife Michelle and two children, Michael and Jason.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 13th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc.
