Richard Allen Anderson Sr., 84, formerly of Yorktown Heights, died peacefully on December 8, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimers at his home in Poughquag, NY.
Born in Yonkers on February 16, 1937, he was the son of George Dudley and Frances Cecelia (Dunn) Anderson. Richard proudly served our country in the US Army, and was employed as a cable splicer for NY Telephone/Verizon in White Plains. He was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church. He was a master cross stitcher who also enjoyed golfing, cruising, and playing fast pitch softball. His favorite place on earth was at their house on DeRuyter Lake.
Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Louise (Muller) Anderson; his sons, Richard (Aileen), Edward (Mary Lou), and Christopher; his grandchildren, Karl, Christopher, Nicole, Victoria, Mackenzie, Matthew, Chelsea, and Dawn; and his great-grandchildren, Christopher, William and Jonathan. He was predeceased by his brother, George.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by entombment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
