Buoniconti
March 14, 1932 – June 23, 2025
WAPPINGERS FALLS- Richard James Buoniconti, an area resident for many years, formerly of The Villages, FL and Mount Vernon, NY, passed away at his home on June 23rd. He was 93 years old.
Son of the late Salvatore & Tessie (Dato) Buoniconti, he was born on March 14th, 1932, in Mount Vernon. Richard would go on to join the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked for the Weights and Measures department in Westchester County. He was a part of the American legion and the Knights of Colombus.
Richard was a devout New York Yankee fan. He also cheered for the New York Jets. He loved to go golfing. He adored the many cruises and trips he spent with his wife. They especially loved going to Italy and Hawaii. While in the service, Richard travelled all over Europe to many different countries. He would always marvel about the surreal experience of swimming in the Mediterranean Sea in the fall.
On May 15th, 1955, he married the love of his life, Theresa (Chiodo) at Our Lady of Victory Church in Mount Vernon. Theresa predeceased him on February 2nd, 2018.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Gail Rothe & her husband John; Lynn Fearon & her husband James; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Jeffrey, Erin, Michael, and Melissa; his great- grandchildren, Teigan, Kaedyn, Malachi, Jack, Camden, and Brady.
Including his parents and his wife, Richard is predeceased by his brother James.
Calling hours on Friday June 27th are from 2-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. On the following day, June 28th, there will be a graveside service at 11 am at Saint Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Rd, Hopewell Junction.
