Richard A. Carnes, a lifelong local area resident, died in Wappingers Falls on Saturday, April 23, 2011. He was 63.
Born in Poughkeepsie on March 20, 1948, he was son of the late Lewis and Beatrice McKeown Carnes. Richard attended local schools and graduated from Arlington High School & Dutchess Community College. In his youth he was a member of the Order of DeMolay. He was an excellent craftsman and utilized his skill and talents throughout the Hudson Valley, including Vassar College, where he re-caned all of the chairs.
Richard leaves behind many cousins along with their children. Survivors include Lyn Nestler & her husband Doug of Hopewell Junction; Judith Hillery of Florida; Dorothea Barrier of Alaska; Mary Jo Kraus of Pleasant Valley; Michael Nestler of Stormville; Hillery Clark of Washington; Thad Barrier of California; and Andy Barrier of California.
Calling hours will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. immediately following calling hours with Rev. Taylor Holbrook officiating.
