Richard A. Cassells, 66, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1986 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at his home.
Born in New York City on December 28, 1945, Rich was employed as a painter and carpenter for the New York City Housing Authority for 30 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction.
On July 26, 1986 in City Island, Rich married Deborah Donohue who predeceased him on July 31, 2007. He is survived by his children, Kelly Gaston-Pennebaker of Hopewell Junction, Dawn Grove and husband Scott of Hopewell Junction, Tammy Gaston and boyfriend Eugene O'Reilly of Queens, Paul Gaston and wife Karen of Hopewell Junction and Kaitlyn Cassells of Hopewell Junction; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
