Obituary

BEACON HILLS – Richard Wayne Coulter, 81, an area resident for 53 years, died on January 26, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Montrose.

Born in Ossining on July 27, 1939, Wayne was the son of the late Richard Gallaher and Marian Louise (Birdsall). Wayne proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

In 1996, he retired from Putnam-Westchester BOCES where he was as a Special Education Teacher for over 30 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed being a "Professional Driver" for Healey Chevrolet until this past December. Family and friends will remember him as being an avid pier fisherman on the Outer Banks.

On May 15, 1965 at St. Christopher's Church in Montrose, Wayne married Linda (Brown) Coulter who survives at home after almost 56 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Michael and Diane Coulter of Fishkill, Matthew and Wendy Coulter of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kirsten and Shawn Lewis of Cumberland, ME; his grandchildren, Cassidy and Tommy Coulter, Colin and Rowan Coulter, and Samantha, Oscar, and Ruby Lewis; his siblings and their spouses, John and Pris Coulter and Ann and Mike Daley; his mother-in-law, Catherine Brown, and the extended Brown family; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to current COVID restrictions, funeral services will be private at this time. Donations may be made in Wayne's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
