Richard W. Docherty, 77, an area resident for 15 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on December 20, 2022 at his home.

Born in the Bronx on January 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Thomas Docherty, Sr. and Catherine (Donovan) Docherty. Richard proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. He was employed as a Mechanic B for Con Edison in Manhattan until his retirement.

Richard is survived by his siblings, James and Kathleen Docherty, Jean Seitter, Virginia Hurley, Thomas and Florence Docherty, Mary Fenton and Vincent Docherty; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Martin, Joseph and Gerard Docherty.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, December 28 at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
