POUGHKEEPSIE – Richard J. "Trickster" Gregory, 78, a lifelong area resident, died on July 12, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Poughkeepsie on July 13, 1942, Richard was the son of the late Richard and Marion (Catalano) Gregory. He was employed by Royal Carting for over 57 years until his retirement in 2012.

Richard was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He especially enjoyed his many vacations to Mexico with family. He also enjoyed attending horse racing and playing cards with good friends.

On October 25, 1963 in Poughkeepsie, Richard married Maryann (Maynard) Gregory who predeceased him in 2018. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Caprice and John Porcoro of Fishkill, Lisa and David Selage of Wappingers Falls, Diane and Edward Hayde of Rhode Island, and Jason Gregory of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Caprice and Charles, Heather and Steve, Donnie and Kristina, Stefan and Malin, Tyler, and Meagan and Joseph; his great-grandchildren, Quincy, Kaleb, Cassius, Angelo, Cody, Keegan, Colton, Siri, Selma, and August; his sisters, Kathleen Gordineer and Diane Schulz; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was also predeceased by his son, Richard Jon Gregory.

A graveside service will be held in September at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
