Richard Joseph Grillo

Richard Joseph Grillo, a former area resident, passed away at his home in Albany, NY, on October 26, 2026. He was 58 years old.

Born on May 24, 1968, in Mount Vernon, NY, Richard was the son of JoAnne Gawan and the late Richard A. Grillo.

Richard was a hardworking and dependable man who took pride in doing his best. He recently worked for Price Chopper in Albany as well as 2Shea Catering. He found happiness in music, movies, and spending time enjoying his favorite interests.

Music was especially important to Richard. He loved listening to all kinds of music, playing the guitar, and attending concerts. He had a special appreciation for Eric Clapton and the timeless sound of his music. Whether listening to his favorite songs or playing guitar, music was a constant source of enjoyment in his life. He also enjoyed watching movies and making the most of life's everyday pleasures.

Richard will be remembered as a reliable, unassuming man who stayed true to himself and found contentment in the things he loved. His kindness, individuality, and the memories he created with those around him will not be forgotten.

Richard is survived by his loving mother, JoAnne Gawan; his sister, Carla Penny, and her husband, John; his brother, Anthony Grillo; his niece, Erica Penny; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He also leaves behind James, whom he shared a special bond with. Richard was an uncle to James in every way that mattered, and their special relationship brought great joy to them both. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. A service will take place at the funeral home beginning at 6:30 PM.
