Obituary

Richard Scott Hake, 51, a resident of New York and previously of Carmel and Yonkers, died on April 24, 2020 at home.
Born on January 4, 1969 in the Bronx, Richard was the son of Richard J. Hake and Joy E. (Mekeland) Colombo.
Richard was a Morning News Anchor for WNYC Radio for 30 years. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and Union Representative for WNYC. He received many awards including the Associated Press Broadcasters Association, the Society of Professional Journalists and other orgainzations for his feature and documentary work, including “Coney Island Cyclone Anniversary” and “The Perfume of the Bronx.” He enjoyed spending time at the theatre, concerts and NYC history.
Richard is survived by his father, Richard James Hake of the Bronx; his mother, Joy Ellen Colombo and her husband Joseph of Poughquag; his sister, Christine Lynn Hake of Pawling; his brothers, Ryan Joseph Hake of Poughquag and Jack Hake of San Francisco, CA; and his nephew and niece, Cameron Lars Tucci and Kiera Skye Tucci. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Emil Lars and Mary Ellen Mekeland and Edward and Josephine Hake.
Services will be private for the family with interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The Humane Society.
