Richard "Dick" Cecil Hartrick, 68, formerly of LaGrangeville and Wappingers Falls and a resident of Whiteville, NC, departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2010.
Born on June 24, 1941 in Stamford, CT, he was the son of the late John and Jeannette Wardell Hartrick. Dick made Dutchess County his home for 30 years (1966-1996) with a career in automotive repair. He was a born mechanic with a talent for solving technical problems, employed over the years as shop manager, automotive technician and business owner.
Dick was a fan of NASCAR racing and over the last few years had enjoyed many road trips headed to the track with Hot Passes into the garages and pit row. He enjoyed being with family, and believed he was very fortunate to be able to share time with them.
He is survived by four daughters, Lisa Hartrick of Whiteville, NC, Lora Metz of Puyallup, WA, Wendy Howington of Cary, NC and Corinne Hartrick Holmes of Jacksonville, NC; and his sister, Barbara Deysenroth of Redding, CT. He was predeceased by his daughter, Elaine Gustin of Hopewell Junction. Dick has 6 grandchildren: Garrett and Nicolette Metz; Olivia, Elizabeth and William Howington; and Jonathan Hartrick. He also has a nephew, Matthew Deysenroth.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11 to 11:30 a.m at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery.
