Southbury, CT- Richard T. Olwell, a resident of Southbury, CT previously from Poughquag, Fishkill, and Yonkers, NY, passed away on October 4, 2023. He was 79 years old.

Richie "Pop" was born on May 28, 1944, in Yonkers, NY the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (Pagkos) Olwell.

Richie was raised and educated in Yonkers, NY, and attended Voorhees Technical Institute.

With a grateful heart, Rich proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army, Richie was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifleman, and Sharpshooter Medals.

On June 8, 1968, Richie married the love of his life Donna Marie Arimento at St. Joseph's Church in Yonkers, NY. Donna passed away on March 3, 2023.

Until his retirement, Richie worked for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 38.

He enjoyed fishing, bingo, and watching the NY Giants and NY Jets.

Richie is survived by his children: Kevin Olwell, Darcel Peters, and her husband Paul, Deborah Voelker, and her husband Eric. His grandchildren: Jonathon Peters, Arden Peters, and Isabella Olwell, his sisters: Patricia Aviezer, Dorrie Byrnes and brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Christine Arimento.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richie is predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Kenneth and Rose Arimento.

Calling hours will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY from 9 am-11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am at St. Denis Church 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY, with Military Honors to follow.

Interment will be on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 10 am at St. Denis Cemetery 604 Beekman Rd. Hopewell Junction, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Richie's name to the VA of Hudson Valley Health Care.
