EAST FISHKILL – Richard David Rhoads, 88, an area resident since 1976, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2024 after a brief illness.
Born on March 6, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa, Dick was the son of the late Leonard and Thelma (Sutton) Rhoads. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves. Dick retired as an advisory engineer from IBM in East Fishkill where he was employed for over 32 years.
A life member of the Wiccopee Fire Company, he was also a member of the Wiccopee Fire Company Auxiliary and the East Fishkill Fire Police.
Dick is survived by his children, Jeff Rhoads, Jim Rhoads and his wife Jeanette, Ken Rhoads, and Ronda Rhoads; his grandchildren, Blake and Megan; and his brother, Dennis Rhoads and his wife Linda. In addition to his parents, Dick was also predeceased by his brother, Stephen Rhoads.
The family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and compassion, as well as his caretaker, Josie.
Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Sunday, May 26 from 12-2pm with a Firematic service beginning at 2pm.
