Richard F. Seffer, a resident of Poughkeepsie for the last six years and formerly of Wappingers Falls, Utica and Connecticut, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Saturday, March 2, 2013. He was 74.
Son of the late Frank and Emma Wilhelm Seffer, he was born in New Britain, CT on September 13, 1938. After graduating from New Britain High School in 1956, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1959, when he received his Honorable Discharge. He graduated from Hartford University's Ward School of Electronics in 1961.
Following College, Richard briefly worked for Quality Assurance Tech. in Utica. In 1963, he began a long career with I.B.M in East Fishkill, where he was a Senior Automated Equipment Specialist. He retired in 1993.
On July 28, 1962, he married Patricia A. Katzung in New Britain, CT. His wife of 50 years, Mrs. Seffer survives at home.
Richard is also survived by his two sons, Scott Seffer of Oklahoma and Sean Seffer of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Shannon Brescia & her husband Rik of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Casey and Katie Brescia of Wappingers Falls; and his sister, Adele Seffer & her husband Charles Capsalors of Florida. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews and many other loving relatives & friends.
All funeral services will be private.
