Richard Michael Witson, 57, a lifelong area resident, died on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Poughkeepsie on June 8, 1958, he was the son of Carl J. and Elisabeth Bosl Witson. Richard was a 1976 graduate of John Jay High School and was employed as a sheet metal worker with Local 38 in Brewster. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, and he enjoyed fishing.

Richard is survived by his children, Ashley Marie Witson of Pawling and Michael Joseph Witson of Wappingers Falls; his siblings, Carl J. Witson III and his wife Ellen of SC, Katherine Ward and her husband Bill of TN, and Robert Witson of Poughkeepsie; his nieces and nephews, Sara and Jay Pulcastro of TN, Chris and Alyssa Ward of SC; and his great niece and nephew, Gracie and Jack Pulcastro.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., Hopewell Junction.
