Rita Louise Allen, 78, a 46 year resident of Wappingers Falls and a former resident of Troy, died January 16, 2015 at River Valley Care Center in Poughkeespie with her family by her side.

Rita was born on October 23, 1936 in Troy, New York to Jennie and Clement Campana. Rita graduated from Troy High School in 1954 and also served in the Army Reserves. She married Joseph J. Allen on May 11, 1963 at St Francis Church in Troy.

Rita was a member of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. For many years, she worked in Dutchess County as a mortgage officer for the Mid-Hudson and Rhinebeck Savings Banks.

She was known for her generosity, love for her family and friends, and delicious cooking.

Rita is survived by her three children, Joe Allen and his spouse Kate Donham of Marlboro, NY, Mary Allen and her partner Lou Springer of Bowie, MD, and Jennie Allen and her spouse Tyler Wood of Catskill, NY; her grandson Isaac; her two brothers Jerry and Dominic; her three sisters Rosie, Anna, and Irene; and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Allen.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20 at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, January 21 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Jct. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
