Rita Denino, 87, an area resident since 1977 and formerly of Yonkers NY passed away on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Yonkers on December 17, 1933 she was the youngest child of Frank and Gilda Romano. On September 21, 1958 in Yonkers, Rita married Saverio Denino who predeceased her in 1989.
After graduating high school Rita went on to earn her license as a hairdresser and worked in that industry for several years. After she married she devoted her time to being a stay at home Mom and housewife. As her children got older, she returned to work in the restaurant industry and was last employed by the Galaxy Diner in Yonkers. She retired from working in 1995.
Rita had an outgoing personality and loved people from all walks of life. She was blessed with length of years and when life presented challenges she faced them with grace and determination to continue to move forward. She worked hard, never complained and kept a positive outlook on life. She had a deep faith in God and raised her daughters to have the same. She loved to dance and listen to music, especially Elvis Presley. She enjoyed eating out (diners were her favorite), she loved ice cream and was an animal lover caring for many dogs and cats over the years. More than anything, Rita loved spending time with her family and her four daughters who were the center of her universe.
Rita is survived by her daughters Donna, Charlene, Karen and Alaina Denino and several nieces and nephews. In addition to being predeceased by her husband Saverio, she was also predeceased by her brothers Orlando and Vincent Romano and her sister Florence Balacky.
Rita's daughters would like to thank the caregivers at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and at the Grand Rehabilitation Center of Pawling for providing Mom with the care and comfort she needed in the last few days of her life. Your compassion and caring did not go unnoticed.
Mom - Thank you for all the love you gave us, raising us to have faith in God and morals and values and for all the many sacrifices you made to give us the best life possible. You will forever be in our hearts and we take comfort in knowing that one day we will all be together again.
