EAST FISHKILL – Rita J. Jorgensen, 88, an area resident since 1973 and formerly of Brooklyn, died peacefully at her home on September 2, 2021.

Born in Brooklyn on January 20, 1933, she was the daughter of Thomas and Phosa (Hayward) McCann. Rita was employed as a high school English teacher for the New York City Board of Education. She also attended St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

On March 17, 1973 in Brooklyn, Rita married Roy E. Jorgensen who survives at home. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Meade of Queens; her nieces and nephews, Teresa, Thomas, Mary, Stephen, Patricia, William, Michael and Catherine; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great, great-nieces, great, great-nephews, and some very special friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 103 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., Hopewell Junction.
