Obituary

FISHKILL – Rita B. Maglio, a resident of Fishkill and formerly of Westchester County, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 74.
Daughter of the late Dominick and Virginia (Fiorenz) DiMassimo, she was born in White Plains on May 17, 1946. Rita was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, where she belonged to the church's Parish Friends group and taught Religious Education. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 1097 (Armonk) Ladies' Auxiliary. She received her Beautician License at the age of 17, and throughout her career, Rita worked for many elite businesses before residing in Fishkill, when she worked as a cosmetologist for the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing.
On September 4, 1966, she married Joseph Maglio in Valhalla. Joseph survives at their home in Fishkill.
Additional survivors include her two daughters, Maria Maglio and Susan Maglio, both of Fishkill; her granddaughters, Taylor Marie Rita Bailey (James Kearney) and Hope Marie Ortiz-Maglio; her siblings, Salvatore DiMassimo of Virginia and Theresa Lobermann & her husband Edward of North White Plains; as well as her many nieces & nephews in addition to other loving relatives & friends.
Rita was predeceased by her parents as well as two brothers, Thomas DiMassimo & his wife Elaine and Dominick DiMassimo; and her sister-in-law, Jemilia DiMassimo.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 25 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 26 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
