Rita M. McMillan, a Fishkill resident since 1956, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 at her home in Fishkill, NY surrounded by her family. She was 89.
Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Hyland) McCormick, she was born in Manhattan on December 2, 1925. Rita was predeceased by all four of her siblings.
In 1954, she married Wallace A. McMillan at Cherry Lane Chapel in Ramsey, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband in 1968.
Rita was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, where she served as a secretary in the church's rectory for over 30 years until retiring in 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Renzo & her husband Joseph of Pleasant Valley, NY and their two sons, Joseph and Christopher; her daughter, Lisa A. McMillan of Poughkeepsie, NY; her son, Robert W. McMillan of LaGrange, NY; her son, Stephen D. McMillan & his wife Wendy of Alexandria, VA and their son, Edward; her daughter, Marianne McMillan & her husband Rick Slavens of Waterford, NY; her daughter, Barbara M. Skinner & her husband Bryan of Fishkill, NY and their son, Mason; her son, Scott A. McMillan & his wife Cathie of Franklin, TN and their son, Michael; her son, Kenneth A. McMillan & his wife Barbara of Cragsmoor, NY. In addition, she is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 27 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's School Angel Fund. The fund helps offset tuition rates for underprivileged students. Checks can be made payable to St. Mary School, with "Angel Fund" in the memo, and mailed to P.O. Box 780, Fishkill, NY 12524. Contributions can also be made online at www.stmaryfishkill.org.
