Mullaney
September 10, 1954 – December 20, 2025
Rita Mullaney, 71, an area resident for more than 50 years, died peacefully surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn on September 10, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Rita (Grant) Christensen. Rita worked with her family in their business, Hudson Buick, GMC, Cadillac in Poughkeepsie for many years.
Rita was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church where she taught religious education. She was also a dedicated volunteer working with Castle Point VAMC and the Astor Home. She was an avid walker, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Rita lived a life defined by her kindness, compassion, and unwavering support for her loved ones. She leaves a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
On September 5, 1976 in Putnam Valley, Rita married the love of her life, Michael Mullaney, who survives at home. She is also survived by her sons and their wives, Ryan and Rebecca Mullaney, Matthew and Magen Mullaney, Dennis and Pamela Mullaney; her grandchildren, Nathan, Mason, Jacob, Kylee, Ian, Madelyn, Aubree, Addison and Abigail; her siblings and their spouses, Odie and Gail Christensen, Carl and Jewel Christensen, Tina and Steven Ferraro, Mary and Tom Eagans; her brother-in-law, Bruce Griffiths; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Landyn; and her siblings, Laura Griffiths and Eric Christensen.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Rita's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
