Rita Rogers, 69, an area resident since 1965 and previously of Queens, died on July 13, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on April 27, 1952 in Brooklyn, Rita was the daughter of Karol J. and Genevieve (Klimkowski) Bogdanowicz. On January 22, 1972 at St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park, Rita married the love of her life, Joseph T. Rogers, Sr., who predeceased her on November 4, 2009.
Rita worked at Vassar Brother Medical Center for almost 40 years as an Outpatient Biller until her retirement in 2018. Rita was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, and previously at St. Columba and Holy Trinity Churches. She enjoyed crocheting but especially loved to talk. She has great lifelong friends, and was an amazing Mimi to 2 grandsons and Cioci to her nieces and nephews.
Rita is survived by her son, Joseph Rogers, Jr. of LaGrange; her daughter-in-law, Sabrina Marie of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Lucas Matthew and Logan Alexander; her sister, Barbara A. Fischer and her husband, Gary W.; her godchildren, Carol Verdis, John Avery, and Eleanor Schultz; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband, Rita was predeceased by her son, Matthew Paul, on May 14, 2011; and her brothers, Richard and Charles Bogdanowicz.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10:30am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
