Robert Charles (Bobby) Albert Sr., 75, of Wappinger Falls passed December 23rd, 2023, peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and children after suffering from a long illness.
Bobby was born October 17th, 1948, in White Plains, New York, the only child of Charles Robert Albert and Mary DelSoldato (Albert).
His Family moved to Verplank, New York where he attended Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, New York. There he met his high school sweetheart Judith Mitchell (Albert) of Buchanan, New York, and the two married in July of 1968 and have celebrated over 55 years of marriage together, having two children, son Robert Charles (Bobby) Albert Jr. and daughter Rebecca Michelle Albert (Dobbins).
Bobby attended Hiram State College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on a football scholarship.
Bobby worked with his father out of college at Bob's Exxon Service Station in Peekskill, New York from 1966-1986. He was also a draft service technician working throughout the area servicing draft beer lines until he retired in 2017.
Bobby enjoyed many things in life including camping with his wife and family, hunting, fishing, an avid superfan of The New York Giants, and most of all, his passion for race car racing.
As a kid, he raced Quarter Midgets and as he got older, he was crew chief and car owner for his father in which they would win many races together. Their racing achievements include the 1974 SMRC Midget Championship, and Bobby received both the Mechanic of the Year Award and Car Owner Championship from the United Racing Club in 1980. Bobby would later co-own race cars and become crew chief with his son, Bobby Jr. Bobby was a Board Member of the Hudson Valley Historical Racing Committee (HVHRC) and was inducted to the HVHRC for his achievements and dedication to racing.
Bobby was predeceased by his father, Charles Robert Albert, and his mother, Mary DelSoldato (Albert).
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith, his two adoring children Bobby Jr, (wife Ellen), Rebecca, (husband Rick), and his 6 grandchildren which he loved and was so proud of; Brian, Bryce, Katelynn, Brady, Blake, and Riley, who brought him great joy.
In lieu of flowers, his family is asking for donations to be made in his name to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (PO Box 688 Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, Email admin@emmr.org) and/or the Hudson Valley Historical Racing Committee ( ℅ Daniel Rocket 15 Poplar St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).
Robert's family would like to thank the Nurses and staff of Hudson Valley Hospice especially Julie and Ricky for their care and compassion.
A memorial service will be held at McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction, New York on Friday, December 29th, 2023, at 11a.m., and a burial following at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, New York.
