WAPPINGERS FALLS - Robert Lincoln Baisley, 90, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully with his family by his side on July 5, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Peekskill on February 12, 1932, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Murnane) Baisley. He retired from the New York City Water Department after 20 years of service. Robert was a lifetime area farmer who especially prided himself in his award-winning sweet corn among other crops and dairy cows. People came from all over to enjoy his farm stand which he had set up on Old State Road.
An enthusiastic fan of the Rangers, Cowboys, and Dodgers, Robert played and managed on many local teams over the years. In 1993, he was inducted into the Dutchess County Old Timers Baseball Association Hall of Fame for his impact on local area sports. He was an avid outdoor sportsman who enjoyed every season of hunting.
Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years Dorothy (Lawyer) Baisley; his son, Michael Baisley; his stepdaughter, Sharon Malfatt; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren; his siblings, Nancy Giles, Helen Bowers, and James Baisley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was also predeceased by his son, Robert Baisley in 1985 and his brother, Edward Baisley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 am – 1 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 1pm at the funeral home followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
