Robert V. Callahan III
October 10, 1982 - February 15, 2019
Robert Vincent Callahan, 36, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Born on October 10, 1982 in Poughkeepsie NY, Bobby was the son of Robert and Rosemarie (Yanossy) Callahan. He was a lifelong area resident and attended John Jay High School.
Bobby had a compassionate heart and a generous personality. He possessed a unique way of looking at the world, often finding humor in the simplest of things. He enjoyed nature, routinely taking pictures of whatever he found striking in his surroundings.
Listening to music was Bobby's passion. He felt deeply connected to both the songs he liked and their lyrics. While he was fond of pop, alternative and independent genres, his favorite artist was Eminem. Bobby loved animals and had an affinity for the family cats, Shadow and Abbey. Both knew to find him for a special treat or some extra attention.
In addition to his mother, Bobby is survived by his sister, Maureen Callahan; his sister, Annie Laino & her husband Michael; his brother, Edward Callahan; his nephew, Nicholas and two nieces, Olivia and Abigail; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father on February 11, 2002, a loss which had a profound effect on him.
Bobby, we imagine you meeting dad, chessboard in hand. You loved us well and we loved you. We will miss you.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 22 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A service will follow at 7 p.m.
