FLAGLER BEACH, FLORIDA – Robert Cleary, 73, a resident of Flagler Beach, Florida since 1998 and formerly of Hyde Park, died on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Flagler Beach, Florida.
Born in the Bronx on August 4, 1938, he was the son of Joseph and Irene (Dunleavy) Cleary. On January 30, 1987 in Poughkeepsie, he married Marlene Leonardi Casey, who survives at home.
Robert was employed by the New York State Police for 32 years. He retired as a Detective Sergeant for Troop K, Millbrook. He belonged to Santa Maria del Mar in Flagler Beach, Florida.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children and their spouses, Laura and Richard Warner of Canajoharie, Theresa and Michael Chanatry of Mason, Ohio, John and Victoria Casey of Poughkeepsie and Lynn Casey Sims of White Plains; his grandchildren Justin and Kyle Warner, Kelly, Michael, Casey and Billy Chanatry, Jason, Tara and John Casey and Adam and Brody Sims; and his brothers, Joseph Cleary, John Cleary and Denis Cleary. He was predeceased by his son, F. Scott Cleary, in 1981.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
