Obituary

On November 21, 1929 Otto Diesing and Ethel (Wright) Diesing, the parents of Robert Matthew Diesing celebrated his life's beginning. This week, our family will celebrate Bob's mortal life's end. In the quiet sanctuary of Vassar Brothers Medical Center, with his beloved family by his side, Robert Matthew Diesing entered into his final rest on May 17, 2015.

Left in the quiet void of his passing, is his wife Marilyn Jean Sutton whom he married December 4, 1960. A son Edward Diesing, and wife Wendy; a son Daniel Diesing and his companion Lisa Mc Guire and Marilyn's son Marshall Arthur Chilton. He is also survived by five granddaughters, Tiffany Lynn Chilton-Pacheco, Amanda Nichole Diesing, Ashley Marie de Baun, Mollie Danielle Diesing and Katie-Lynn Diesing. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Helen Sutton Parsons, a daughter-in-law, Colleen Howard Diesing, and a son-in-law, James W. de Baun.

Mr. Diesing was predeceased by his daughter. Marilyn Jean-Marie; his sister, Ruth Shaker Diesing; and his brothers, Lawrence and Arthur Diesing. Living on a farm we would be amiss if our pets and farm animals currently (and the 'Spirits' of all through the years) were not remembered. We must not forget Ginger and Buzz our latest two little dogs that can do no wrong and the goats that followed Bob when he was near them on the golf cart. When the goats broke away from their confines they never left the immediate area, they would stand near Bob's parked golf cart patiently waiting for the man who always fed them.

Mr. Diesing left his studies at Poughkeepsie High School to become the loving Guardian (owner) of what was to become Meadowbrook Farm Orchards and Farm Market that had not been a viable working farm for many years. Meadowbrook was named in the 1800s. This Farm was a weekend and summer family home purchased by Mr. Diesing's parents when he was fourteen. Mr. Diesing innately knew that his life's purpose was to love and care for this parcel of land for his lifetime. Twelve milking cows were purchased. Three hundred apple trees were rescued. The apples were picked, and sold wholesale. There was a small table in front of the house with garden produce. People paid on the honor system. In 1964, it was decided that we would sell the cows sell the hay outright. We started selling apples, tomatoes and sweet corn retail. There were so few customers that Mrs. Diesing rode her bicycle back and forth from the house to the barn to wait on the customers. With the love and guidance of our Creator, Mr. Diesing's full lifetime devotion and with the love and help of his wife Marilyn and son's Edward and Daniel along with our dedicated staff "Meadowbrook", has continued to grow and remain in the family.

TO THE WORLD BOB WAS JUST ONE, BUT HE WAS OUR WORLD. NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO FILL BOB'S SHOES BUT HIS FAMILY ARE PROUD TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS.
