Robert E. Hileman, PhD., 85, an area resident over 50 years and previously of Minnesota and Pennsylvania, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at MidHudson Regional Hospital.
Born in Bloomsburg, PA on August 16, 1929, he was the son of Loren and Emma Broadt Hileman. Robert was a graduate of Bloomsburg Teacher College, Rutgers University and the University of Minnesota where he received his PhD. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Robert was a chemist and group leader in charge of fuel research for Texaco Research Center in Beacon for over 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the East Fishkill Republican Club, Elks Club in Middletown, and was on the Board of Directors of Unistar Federal Credit Union (Texaco Federal Credit Union).
Robert is survived by his wife Marjorie Minard Hileman; his children, Lynn Durazo of Colorado, Judy Hileman of Seneca Falls, Karen Hileman-Rizzo of Hughsonville, and Marcia Pippel of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Kristy Hileman, Katie Hileman, Eric Gummerson, Marc Gummerson, William "Billy" Rizzo, Jessica Vickers and Matthew Vickers; his three great-grandchildren, two sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Winnie Hileman on October 20, 2000 and his son, William Hileman on May 6, 1999.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery with military honors.
