Robert Arnold Janicker

Robert Arnold Janicker, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1972, formerly of Pawling and New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Pines Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 94 years old.

Son of the late Arnold and Barbara (Dohn) Janicker, he was born in Sayreville, NJ on June 26, 1932. In his youth, Robert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and skeet shooting. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from service in 1953.

He worked as an Industrial Arts teacher at Beacon High School for 20 years, retiring in 1990. He then became a teacher at McQuade Children's Services in New Windsor. He also served as a board member for the Beacon School District.

Robert was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and member of the Free & Accepted Masons in Pawling NY.

On April 9, 1955, he married Lynn Ruth Benintende in West New York, NJ. After nearly 68 years of marriage, he was predeceased by Lynn in 2023.

Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis Capone & her husband Steven of Poughkeepsie; his son, Arnold Janicker & his wife Amber of West Virginia; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was also predeceased by his daughter, Robbi Lynn Janicker; and his sister, Joan Perry.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Thursday, October 15 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Entombment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
