Obituary

Robert "Bob" Kampa was born June 9, 1932 in Yonkers, NY to his parents Anna (Brancard) and John Edward Kampa and passed peacefully on the day of All Saints, November 1, 2025.

On September 17, 1960, Bob married the "True Love" of his life Virginia Dorchak and they were married almost 60 years before her passing in 2020. He enjoyed bowling and was often heard telling the story of how cupid stuck his arrow in him the moment he met Virginia at the bowling alley when they needed someone on her lane. They moved to Wappingers Falls, NY in 1966 and spent most of their lives there.

Bob was a devoted Catholic at the parish of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, NY where all his children attended grade school. Bob was also a member of the Third Order of St. Francis for over 65 years. He considered the Secular Franciscan order of Beacon a second family.

Bob worked at Alexander Smith Carpet factory with his mother, Otis elevator, Ford and lastly General Motors in Tarrytown where he spent most of his working career to support his family.

Bob's hobbies included raising tropical fish and then selling them to pet stores in Yonkers. Later he brought his talent to Wappingers Falls, maintaining multiple beautiful fish tanks in his home for friends and family to enjoy while also volunteering to maintain the fish tanks at local nursing homes and the St. Lawrence Friary. He also learned to make rosaries and took great joy in making them personalized for as long as he was able. The family would like all who received this gift from him to bring them and carry them visibly at his services to honor him. Bob was a huge NY Yankee fan and had several of his last year's birthday celebrations at the stadium with his name up on the Jumbotron. He enjoyed singing and engaged his family during family trips with many Irish songs.

His biggest joys were his faith and his family. He is survived by his three girls, Mary (Stuart) Tousman of Virginia, Elizabeth (Dave) Inglis of NY, Karol (Don) Thomas of Hopewell Jct., NY, and the grandchildren he adored, Alyssa, Emily, Rachel, Rebecca, Nicholas and Luke. In addition to his wife Virginia and his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John "Jack" Kampa, his nephew John E. "Jackie" Kampa and many other relatives and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood at Danbury for their kindness and support of Bob while he was there. Bob's requests included having Gregorian masses said for the purification of his soul to hasten his journey to heaven.
