FISHKILL - Robert George Knueppel, a local area resident since 1956, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Pines at Poughkeepsie Center for Nursing. He was 92.
Son of the late Dietrich and Edna (Rogge) Knueppel, he was born in Kansas City, MO on June 6, 1929. As a child, his family relocated to Iowa. In 1947, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until being honorably discharged in 1950.
In 1956, he began his career with I.B.M. and worked for the company at several different campuses and facilities throughout the Hudson Valley. He retired as a Programmer in 1992.
Bob was a longtime active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill. He served the church in many capacities such as Sunday School Superintendent, Elder, and Board Member. He was also involved in countless other church-related committees and programs. His hobbies including hiking and computers.
In 1991, he married Linda M. Balassone Indorf at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill. Linda survives at home.
Robert is also survived by his stepchildren: Joshua Indorf & his wife Marlena of Wappingers Falls and Elizabeth Oviedo & her husband Kevin of Hopewell Junction; his step-grandchildren: James Indorf, Emma Oviedo, Bella Oviedo, and Grant Oviedo; two sisters: Helen Soder of Coralville, IA and Doris Kurth of Prairie Village, KS; his sisters-in-law, Doris Knueppel of Hampton, IA and Enid Knueppel of Kansas City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
Bob was predeceased by his step-grandson, Joshua G. Indorf, Jr. as well as seven siblings: Raymond Knueppel, Donald Knueppel, Orval Knueppel, Marion Peebles, James Knueppel, Lois Weedin, and John Knueppel.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 18 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1400 Route 52, Fishkill, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
