Wappingers Falls, NY - Robert Joel Lerner, an area resident since 1987 passed away on November 10, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 77 years old.

Robert was born on April 9, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late George and Gertrude (Adges) Lerner and grew up in Bayside, Queens graduating from Bayside High School. He continued his education at Queens College.

He then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

In 1972, Robert fell in love with and married Genevieve (Piser). They married on July 15th 1972, she survives at home. They had two daughters whom he loved dearly, along with his wife Genevieve.

Robert was a Re-Insurance Underwriter for the Home Insurance Co. In Manhattan until his retirement in 1990.

He was a former member of the New Hackensack Fire Department.

He was an avid New York Islanders and New York Yankees fan, loved The Beatles and his favorite song was "Hey Jude." Robert also enjoyed sitting in his Adirondack chair and soaking in the sun whenever he could.

In addition to his wife Genevieve, Robert is survived by his daughters: Vanessa Rizzo and Allison Lerner along with three grandchildren: Maddie Rich, Avery Rich and Sadie Ketcham.

Robert is predeceased by his parents, his son-in-law Marc Andrews Rizzo and his Uncle David Adges.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 1 PM at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
