Robert J. Lorenz passed away at home on July 6, 2026 at the age of 89. He was surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Yonkers, NY on December 21, 1936 to the late Thomas and Helen Lorenz. On August 16, 1958 at St. Peter's Church in Yonkers, he married his beloved wife Barbara Jean. They were happily married for 63 years. Barbara predeceased him on July 2, 2021. Robert missed his wife greatly yet he carried on for his beloved family for five years.
Robert worked for many years for the Yonkers Police Department as a Detective, retiring in 1989. In his free time, he was an avid photographer and woodworker. He loved to make birdhouses and signs. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, and Barry Manilow. He had a love for all animals, especially his beloved cats Suzie and Jake. And his love for hot dogs with sauerkraut was unmatched!
Robert is survived by his 3 daughters: Dorine DeLuca and her husband John, Lisa Hutman and her significant other Michael DiMaio, and Laura Ekman and her husband Jim; his grandchildren: John DeLuca and his wife Meaghan, Emilee Ekman, Hollee Hutman, Jamee Ekman, Kaylee Hutman, and Bradee Ekman; his great-granddaughter Cecelia; his siblings: Karen Krajeski, and Ralph Lorenz and his wife Donna; his beloved cat companions Suzie and Jake; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday July 13, 2026 from 10am - 12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction. A Funeral Service will begin at 12pm, followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
