Robert Lussow, 86, a resident of Highland since 2018, and formerly of Saugerties, Toronto, and Hopewell Junction, died peacefully at Kingston Hospital on March 10, 2022.

Robert was born on September 11, 1935, in St. Charles, Illinois, to the late Robert E. and Marion B. (Hobbs) Lussow.

On August 6, 1960, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Ross) at Sacred Heart Church in Boston, Massachusetts. She survives at home. Additional survivors include his son, Alexander Ross Lussow of Tucson, Arizona; his son, Jonathan Robert Lussow of East Fishkill, New York; his daughter, Cassandra Nina (Lussow) Tribe-Scott of Warwick, Rhode Island; his granddaughter, Montserrat Lussow of Vancouver, British Columbia; and his grandsons, Tyler Lussow of New York, New York, Mason Lussow, Marine based in Twenty Nine Palms, California, and Rourke Lussow of Nanaimo, British Columbia. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Lussow, and his sister, Lois Lussow.

Robert attended Wichita State University and Penn State University. In the US Navy Reserves, Robert proudly served our country. Robert then went on to work as a material scientist for IBM in East Fishkill until his retirement in May of 1995. During this time, he was presented with the IBM Outstanding Invention Award.

Robert had many hobbies and interests including sculpting, playing the clarinet, fishing, tennis, billiards, and traveling. He also played in the Rhinebeck Community Band.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Kingston Hospital ICU for their compassionate care.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 12-1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 1pm.
