HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Robert F. Mason, 76, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 37 years and formerly of the Bronx, passed away on April 19, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Manhattan on November 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Viola (Gaines) Mason. On July 20, 1963 at St. Anthony's Church in the Bronx, Robert married Maureen Flynn. Mrs. Mason survives at home.

Robert was employed as a Manager for the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA) in Manhattan for 30 years until his retirement in 1995. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed crafting small items such as cabinets, tables, and lawn ornaments.

In addition to his wife of almost 50 years, Robert is survived by his sons, Brian Mason and his wife Karen of Green Acres, FL, Michael Mason of Poughkeepsie, and Robert Mason and his wife Heather of Waldwick, NJ; his grandchildren, Kathleen and Kendra Mason, Kennedy Mason, and Brendan and Catherine Mason; his sister, Eileen Chachere of Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his 3 brothers.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 – 7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
